Overview
The purpose of this document is to provide the reader with instructions on installing EditShare 202x from a USB stick
Prerequisites
-An EditShare server with no data that needs to be kept as it will be lost during this procedure
-An EditShare ISO of the appropriate version written to an 8GB or larger USB stick (preferably USB3 spec) using a tool such as Balena Etcher (https://www.balena.io/etcher/)
Process Steps
- Insert the USB stick into the server, preferably a USB3 port, if the USB stick is of USB3 type
- Power on the server
- This should automatically boot from the USB stick and present you with the following page. If it does not, and the server boots from the existing Operating System drives, then you will need to enter the BIOS using the keyboard (F9 for HPE, Delete for Supermicro), select the USB boot device and reboot
- Select interactive
- The installer will then try to configure the network, if you have a network connected and DHCP on the network this will assign an IP address automatically. Else network autoconfiguration will fail and you will be presented with the following screen
- Select Continue and then select Do not configure network at this time
- The installer will then detect the Operating System drives (if these drives have been used before you may see the existing version identified and displayed)
- Type clean and select your two Operating system drives using the arrow keys and spacebar (these are under 1TB in size) and select Continue
- If your EditShare has a local RAID, such as and EFS200 or EFS300 then you are presented with the follow screen (production nodes only have Operating System drives and will not show this screen)
- Select the large drive with the spacebar and Continue, typing wipe when prompted
- The system will now partition and freshly install the OS as instructed and will not require further input until completed where you will see the following screen
As instructed, remove the USB stick and select Continue, at which point additional tasks are completed and the server reboots
