EditShare offers training designed to get you up and running with your new systems and to help you develop custom solutions for your production ecosystem. Here are a few things that will help you arrange for training and get the most out of your time with an EditShare Engineer.
Sessions and Days
Training is sold in "Day" units.
A training day consists of 6 contact hours (in the seat training time). The day is broken into two 3-hour sessions with time added for hourly breaks and lunch.
Two 3-hour sessions equals one day of training whether booked consecutively as a full day or spread out over multiple days or weeks.
Sessions are 3 contact hours with minimal breaks and are designed to efficiently cover content and let you get on with your workday. There is an hour between sessions in our master schedule, so if extra time is needed, the session can go a bit longer than 3 hours.
Note: EditShare has a deep feature set. It is not generally a good idea to do back-to-back training over a full day, because learner retention falls off when attempting to pack that much information into a short time period. Full days can be accommodated, but this has proven to be a less productive use of training time.
Training Session Topics
System Administration101 (EFS) - for technical users who will be tasked with monitoring the system, keeping watch over system health, creating users and media spaces,
System Administration 102 (Flow) - for technical users who will be tasked with configuring and monitoring the asset management system, setting up scanning, and managing custom metadata fields. Exploration of the theories that govern Flow Asset Management, EditShare One, and Flow Panel.
System Administration 201 - Focused on Flow Automation, custom metadata fields and mapping, and the interaction between the two.
EditShare User Basics 101 - for users who will be using EditShare Connect and the Flow Panel in Premier or Resolve, using AirFlow, remote proxy workflow, and generally searching for and using media for postproduction.
EditShare One Capture 101 - for operational users who will be using the capture tool to set up and capture live events from SDI or NDI sources. Areas of focus will include setting up I/O and Channels in Flow Control, setting up manual capture jobs, and scheduling jobs across multiple channels.
Third Party Integrations - for editors and system administrators who want to use third party tools including Cinedeck, Helmut, Audimus, or Mobius integrations.
Customized Training Session - for EditShare users who are familiar with the fundamentals of EditShare either through previous training sessions or hands-on experience, this session type is customizable and can include deeper dives into specific features, unique workflow applications, or any combination of questions or issues related to the operation of EditShare and its various 3rd-party integrations.
When booking customized sessions, it is required that you include descriptions of all issues and topics so that we can assign an appropriate trainer to work with you.
All training sessions are interactive and conducted with your needs in mind, so feel free to ask questions and direct the focus to issues that you feel are relevant to your mission.
How Much Training Should I Book?
Most customers who are new to EditShare find it useful to book two sessions over the course of two days covering System Administration 101 (EFS) in one session and System Administration 102 (Flow) in the other. This gives the system admins a good overview of the EditShare feature set so they can begin to think about how to apply the capabilities to their workflow. This is followed by a single session of EditShare Basiscs 101 for the general users once workflow design is solid.
Example:
Tuesday 9am - System Admin 101 | Who? System Administrators, IT, Media Managers, Lead Editors.
Wednesday 9am - System Admin 102 | Who? System Administrators, Media Managers, Lead Editors.
Thursday 9am - EditShare Basics 101 | Who? General Users, Editors, Librarians, Producers along with System Administrators, Media Managers, Lead Editors.
Depending on how thought out the workflow is, some admins choose to wait until the following week to do the editorial training to give themselves time to design workflow and plan how they want to implement the tools. This also prevents end-user confusion that comes from presenting new tools without a solidly defined use plan.
Users then begin to work with the system for a few weeks keeping track of questions and issues encountered. Once they have an understanding of how EditShare is meshing with their production ecosystem, they book follow-up sessions to specifically address the areas of operation that are presenting challenges or need further refinement.
Scheduling Training Sessions
Our available training times are listed on the self-service booking calendar for each region. Once you book you will receive a confirmation email and a calendar invite. You can add attendees at the time of booking or at any time later.

Onsite vs Remote Training
Training booked via the self-service calendar is assumed to be "remote training" conducted via Zoom. If you wish to schedule on-site training, please email support@editshare.com to arrange a date and time. The minimum increment for on-site training is two full days.
The scheduling page will show you all of the available training slots for your region.
The session slots show on this calendar are the ones currently available for self-service booking, and you can schedule one or more sessions at your convenience.

When scheduling, please be sure to include the following:
|
When you book the slot, you will receive a confirmation email with detailed instructions and a calendar meeting invite at the primary email address used to book the appointment.
You will also be granted permission on the meeting invite to add any other attendees who will be attending the session.
We will also send you a support ticket. This ticket can be used to ask further questions, notify us in advance if you have trouble getting set up, or communicate with the trainer for anything related to your upcoming session. Just reply-all to the initial support ticket email to get in touch.
Training Environment Preparation
When your training day arrives, you will need a few things in place in order to get the most out of your session. While your trainer can demonstrate all of the features of EditShare using their system, it is most beneficial for us to conduct training on your system. To do that, we need a few things in place.
A workstation or laptop with the following:
An internet connection and a connection to your EditShare servers.
Zoom installed and authorized to share your screen and remote control with meeting attendees. Mac users may require a restart for this, so it is best to set it up beforehand.
EditShare Connect, your NLE, and the Flow Panel installed.
M-1 Mac users may be required to change the macs security level to install the EditShare Connect client.VNC or Remote Desktop access to your EditShare server nodes.
IP address of your EditShare master node.
If you are using a training room, ensure there is a projector or monitor big enough for everyone to see and a microphone that covers the room so that all can ask questions and participate.
If you have any questions about setting this up, you can use the support ticket created for your training session to get those answered.
Languages
Training is conducted in English. If your team needs training in another language, please contact us by emailing support@editshare.com. We may be able to coordinate training through a local channel partner.
Cancellation Policy
Both the confirmation email, and the calendar invite contain links to allow you to reschedule or cancel your session. You will also have a support ticket that you can reply to at any time to notify us of changes.
We understand that things happen, and schedules change. All we ask is that you let us know as soon as possible prior to the session by canceling via either of these methods, so that we can free up the session for other customers. EditShare reserves the right to deduct a session from your total training entitlement for no-shows if sessions are booked and not cancelled.
We are looking forward to working with you and your team and helping you make the most of your EditShare system.
