Some users have reported issues playing back some audio files on the Safari browser. The issue stems from some unique playback requirement updates from Apple. As browser updates happen all the time we can not make changes to our player in every instance as we use the best possible standards to play in all of the commonly used browsers and not favoring one over the other.
REASONS:
- .MOV file will conflict if there are other tracks outside of Audio and video. Some .mov encoders will have a 3rd Quicktime track that causes audio playback to fail in browsers like Safari that use Quicktime by default.
- Some files are trimmed before uploading to Wiredrive and not exported properly.
- Files have more audios streams then are allowed in our player.
When you experience this issue, we kindly ask that you follow these steps to confirm your issue:
ACTIONS:
- The standard video format for the web is .mp4 as this is the global web standard across all browsers.
- Open the video in another browser and confirm that audio is working. In most cases, the file was encoded improperly with more than one audio track (2 channels). Wiredrive support one audio track with up to 2 channels. The file needs to be re-encoded to meet the standards we have outlined.
- Once you have re-encoded the file and replaced the existing file in place. Try playing the file again and it should work.
- If this does not work, please download the file and confirm that the audio works on your local device. If so, send our support team a message with a presentation link to the file in question. If there is no audio when playing on your local device this means the audio either does not have audio or the audio is corrupted in some way.
- Lastly, if the file was trimmed, this may only change the start and end time or the file but not cut out the physical duration of the file which is what the web will read over the start and end time.
Sample Audio track configuration: May require mixing down before uploading to Wiredrive.
