When clips contain leading black frames, bars, or tone, the default first frame may not accurately represent the content. You can update thumbnail frames individually using EditShare One or set an automated frame offset across all new media scans.
Method 1: Update a Single Clip (EditShare One)
To manually change the thumbnail for a specific clip:
- Open the clip in EditShare One.
- Shuttle to the desired frame.
- Press
ton your keyboard to set the active frame as the new thumbnail.
Method 2: Set a Bulk Thumbnail Offset (FLOW Scan Server)
To automatically offset the thumbnail frame for all newly scanned clips:
Step 1: Set the Frame Offset
- Open a terminal on the FLOW Scan Server.
- Run the following command, replacing
Xwith your desired frame offset count:flow-setting set scan thumbnail-offset-frames X
Note: If a clip's duration is shorter than the defined offset value (X), FLOW will default to using the clip's first frame.
Step 2: Restart the FLOW Scan Service
- Open FLOW Control.
- Navigate to Systems -> Select Server -> FLOW Scan.
- Click Stop, wait a few seconds for the service to halt, then click Start.
⚠️ Important Considerations
- Existing Media: Changing this setting only applies to newly scanned media. Pre-existing clip thumbnails will not be updated automatically.
- Manual Overrides: Any clip can still have its thumbnail manually updated in EditShare One using Method 1.
