MediaSilo's AI features can be enabled across your entire workspace, on a project-by-project basis, or even for individual files. Since processing large amounts of video data takes time, understanding how and when to enable these settings will help you manage your media efficiently. MediaSilo uses a scalable queue system to process media. Depending on the current system load and the size of your project, processing time will vary.
Enabling AI Globally for New Projects
Workspace administrators can choose to make AI indexing the default for all future projects. Once this is enabled, every new project created will automatically send its media into the AI processing queue. If this setting is off, new projects will behave normally, and AI will need to be manually turned on within the project settings. In the AI section of Administration, you will be presented with four options.
Note: The admin panel setting only dictates the default behavior for new projects; it does not automatically turn on AI for existing projects.
- Automatically enable AI indexing for new projects: AI indexing will be turned on by default for every new project created. Note that this will not turn on AI indexing for any previously upload asset. There is also the option to select the types of assets AI indexing will be turned on for: Video, Audio, or Image
- Allow manual asset indexing: Project collaborators can mark individual assets for AI indexing from a project that does not have AI applied to it.
- Generate downloadable transcripts (.srt) for indexed audio and video: Creates a downloadable .srt transcript file for each processed asset, accessible in the Transcript tab of that asset.
- Detection Thresholds: Controls how closely a detected face or logo must match a known entity to be identified. A lower threshold is more lenient and will return more results but may include false positives. A higher threshold is stricter and will only return results that closely resemble the known entity.
Enabling AI At the Project Level
If you have an existing project, or if your workspace Admin has not enabled AI by default, Project Managers can turn it on individually by project. Once you save these settings on an existing project, all of the existing data within that project will immediately be sent into the queue for AI processing.
Select Edit Project on the project you want to add AI Indexing to and select the AI section. You will be presented with three options.
- Enable automated AI Visual Search Indexing: AI indexing will be turned on for the project. There is also the option to select the types of assets AI indexing will be turned on for: Video, Audio, or Image
- Allow manual asset indexing: Project collaborators can mark individual assets for AI indexing.
- Generate downloadable transcripts (.srt) for indexed audio and video: Creates a downloadable .srt transcript file for each processed asset, accessible in the Transcript tab.
Enabling AI for Individual Assets
Some organizations work with sensitive media and may prefer not to have AI Indexing enabled for an entire project. If manual asset indexing has been made available for a project, users with editing permissions in that project can right click any individual asset and choose their selected AI Indexing options.
Processing AI Indexed Assets
MediaSilo uses a scalable queue system to process media. Depending on the current system load and the size of your project, processing time will vary. When you open an asset that has AI Indexing which is currently processing, you will see the statement "AI asset is being indexed" to the right. When processing has completed, the statement will change to "This asset has been AI Indexed." AI-indexed projects will display a special AI icon.
Note: Enabling AI on an existing project will automatically send all existing data in that project into the processing queue.
