MediaSilo’s AI tools automatically generate text transcripts for your processed video and audio files, making it easier to review dialogue and locate specific moments within your media without needing to scrub through the entire timeline as well as create captions for your media assets.
How Transcripts are Created
Transcripts are generated as part of the standard AI indexing process. The AI will always generate a transcript by default as part of this analysis. Once the AI has finished indexing your file, a new sidebar option will appear inside your asset next to the media player called Transcript. If you click on this tab, the transcript for your file will display on the right hand side. This also will also add captions to any review link of the asset you share. By default, captions are set to on but can be changed by the user reviewing the link.
SRT Caption Files
While the text transcript is generated automatically, if you want a downloadable caption file (SRT), you must select the Generate transcript .srt for indexed audio and video toggle in your AI settings. This can be done at the workspace or project level. Keep in mind that these are standard captions and not closed captions.
Searching and Navigating Within a Transcript
There are multiple ways to search within a transcript.
- Interactive Playback: The transcript text is mapped to the video's timeline. You can read through the dialogue and click directly on any word or section in the transcript to instantly jump in the video player to that specific moment. Note: While highly accurate, the browser playback is not perfectly frame-accurate.
- Search: The entire transcript is searchable. You can easily search for specific phrases and words to find out exactly when they were spoken.
- Highlights Panel Integration: If you utilize the separate global AI Search bar to find a keyword, any matches found within the spoken transcript will populate in the asset's Highlights tab, categorized specifically under Dialogue which will also display on the timeline.
